We are currently searching for a Legal Analyst to join our Sales Operations team. The Legal Analyst will support in-house counsel with handling of fraud referrals, privacy incidents, case investigations, legal research, complaint and dispute resolution, regulatory compliance, and other matters as needed within designated timeframes. With attorney supervision, the Legal Analyst will also assist other departments with legal document review and general legal questions, draft basic correspondence and documents, and act as a liaison between in-house counsel and other associates, customers, and select third parties, including external legal counsel and law enforcement.
This is a hybrid position requiring in-office work.

Essential Job Functions:
- Assist in the administration and operation of WoodmenLife’s antifraud, compliance, privacy, and internal dispute resolution programs; work on related projects and Company initiatives
- Under the supervision of an attorney, support the timely resolution of complaints, disputes, and select litigation/arbitration, to include collection and organization of corporate and other records, preparation of exhibits, drafting correspondence and select legal documents, and conducting calendaring/docket management
- Support the antifraud official on case investigations, research, maintenance of investigative files, and the preparation and filing of required fraud reports and related program documents
- Assist as requested on compliance, regulatory, and general projects, including performing research and analysis of issues involving state and/or federal laws, regulations and case law
- Intake, review and/or respond to general inquiries on a wide variety of issues from home office and sales associates, customers, regulatory agencies, law enforcement, and external legal counsel
- Review routine legal documents including powers of attorney, guardianship, estate, and divorce documentation submitted in relation to insurance transactions and provide guidance as appropriate
- Prepare and maintain 50 state surveys on various industry topics such as revocation of former spouse as beneficiary, authority of attorney-in-fact to change beneficiary, interest payable on death claims, lapse notifications, and similar
- Respond to subpoenas and third-party requests for documents
- Undergraduate degree and/or comparable work experience. Associates or bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies from an ABA approved program is a plus but not required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to manage conflict and respond professionally in all situations.
- Excellent reasoning, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail. Ability to weigh different courses of action and recommend solutions that contribute to WoodmenLife’s overall customer service and corporate goals.
- Excellent interpersonal and listening skills; ability to build relationships with internal and/or external customers to ensure expectations are met or exceeded.
- Knowledge/familiarity with business and insurance principles and terminology, contracts, and business law.
- Time management, planning, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple project assignments, work under pressure and meet established deadlines and in an environment with changing priorities.
- Passionate about providing an exemplary customer experience.
- Proficient in using the Internet as a powerful research and resource; ability to effectively use Microsoft Office and Windows; and ability to develop report formats and extract pertinent information appropriately using Microsoft Office applications.
- If no prior insurance experience, willingness to take LOMA 280/281, 290/291 and 311 courses.
- Knowledge of WoodmenLife’s processes/products as well as general policies and practices is preferred.
