Key Functionality:
The Marine Electrician will be responsible for maintaining and repairing electrical power generating and distribution systems, voltage regulators, engine governors, and equipment. They will also assist with repairs in port, perform routine checks of electrical equipment, and maintain all moving parts of windlass, winches, and related deck machinery. Additionally, the successful candidate will advise scientific crew on the most suitable use of electrical power, maintain science winch displays and power circuits in labs, and help determine electrical requirements.

Standards:
To succeed in this role, you will need a strong background in electrical systems and experience working on similar vessels. A high school diploma or equivalent education, combined with two years of sea duty as an Engineer or Electrician on a similar vessel, is required. In addition, you must hold a U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner's credential endorsed as an Electrician or 3rd Assistant engineer unlimited HP, Motor. Excellent communication skills, familiarity with various engine room and ship's electrical systems, and the ability to discern and help repair equipment malfunctions are essential. You will also need to demonstrate good safety practices and procedures, including the ability to pass a Pre-employment DOT drug screen and hold an Unexpired (STCW Expiration date) USCG medical Certificate.
