Human Resources Generalist/Benefits Specialist

Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist serves as the point of contact for the day-to-day operations that cover the lifecycle of an employee. In this role, you will provide strategic and hands-on support for the Human Resources function in the areas of onboarding, benefits administration, leave management, employee relations, compliance, compensation, employee relations, and training.
The Human Resources Generalist plays a critical role in executing Human Resources processes and procedures, ensuring a positive experience for our employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Director of Human Resources in day-to-day HR operations.
- Process benefit enrollments for new employees, changes for existing employees due to qualifying events, and support annual open enrollment planning and implementation processes.
- Respond to benefit inquiries from employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes, and other general inquiries.
- Process and administer all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability, and FMLA in compliance with federal, state and local laws.
- Audit and process benefit vendor insurance invoices and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist Director of Human Resources in analyzing and updating current policies and procedures to ensure consistency, efficiency, and accuracy.
- Organize and implement the onboarding process for new hires (conduct orientation, present and explain benefit offerings, and provide employees with a welcoming and inclusive experience).
- Conduct Exit Interviews, track, summarize results and report out recommendations on how to improve retention and improve employee engagement.
- Develop and deliver various Human Resources trainings that include stay interviews, supervisor training, Human Resources best practices, etc.
- Respond to unemployment claims and employment verifications.
- Compile data for various compensation and benefit surveys.
- Assist with compiling data for audit preparations.
- Maintain confidentiality and accurate Human Resources files.
- Suggest new procedures and policies for improving employee experience as well as the efficiency of the Human Resources department.
- Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Professional and Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or similar relevant field.
- 3-7 years of human resources experience.
- At least 1 year of experience administering benefit programs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to influence, interact, and build strong relationships at all levels across the firm.
- Ability to contribute as a team player, promoting a positive and professional work environment.
- Ability to work independently and proactively thinking about what needs to be done.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and willingness to ask questions.
- Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now a plus.
- PHR or SPHR certification preferred.
