Responsibilities:
- Determines the best way to prepare fresh food items
- Ordering and merchandising the culinary department
- Responsible for department gross profits and labor percentages
- Writing and planning weekly work schedules
- Additional duties could include finding ways to cook multiple fresh items for the same dishes at once, creating sauces or toppings for dishes and developing the dishes themselves
- Maintain a clean and sanitized work station
- Verbally receive and call back guest orders in an upbeat and friendly manner
- Follow health and safety guidelines
- Adhere to recipes and presentations for food and beverage items
- Food safety knowledge
- General knife handling
- General meat handling and preparation
- Sets up and prepares equipment for use in food production. Follows proper cooking procedures in accordance with the standardized recipe cards and the supervisors instructions to produce a uniform product.
- Utilizes all types of kitchen equipment to prepare food. Uses the appropriate following equipment: broilers, ovens, deep-fat fryers, slicers, choppers, steamers, and miscellaneous small equipment such as knives, paddles, etc.
- Uses the appropriate equipment for the proper preparation and service of food.
Work Environment:
- Inside work with extreme variations in heat, cold, dust, humidity from compressors, cooler, freezer, equipment, and preparation area.
