Job Description:
The Produce Lead is a friendly, enthusiastic person who enjoys leading center store teammates as they work within the produce department. This role is responsible for a wide variety of complex tasks within the company. The Produce Lead helps the produce department run as efficiently as possible by providing courteous, accurate, and speedy attention to guests while also maintaining safety and security standards at all times.
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Provides a safe environment for teammates, guests, and vendors by identifying and rectifying hazards, ensuring proper ergonomics, and maintaining store equipment in proper working order.
- Complies with all established company policies and procedures while upholding the security and confidentiality of documents and data.
- To greet and thank guests, respond to their questions/requests/complaints, and explain store policies in a courteous manner.
- To allocate shelf space according to movement, capacity and profitability.
- To supervise/order all produce products and supplies so as to minimize out-of-stocks while maintaining the desired produce inventory turns.
- Preparation of the back room for receipt of merchandise and unloading of trucks; checking of the load for shortage/overage.
- Sorting of cases according to aisle or pallet for stocking, stocking of merchandise on shelf, building displays, and storing backstock.
- To constantly be alert to external and internal security issues, and to implement prevention of security problems through strict enforcement of all company security policies and procedures.
- To assure the safety of self, guests, and employees at all times by strict enforcement of all company safety policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
- Grocery store setting. Inside work with variations in heat/cold/dust/humidity caused by the opening of store entrance doors. Some outside work required as needed.
Job Qualifications:
- You must be 18 years of age or older to be employed for this role at Woods Supermarket
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
- Ability to provide and lead others to provide prompt and courteous guest service
- Ability to develop rapport, trust, and open communication that enhances the growth and job performance of store teammates
- Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures
- Ability to establish goals, guide teammate performance to ensure the quality and completion of work assignments

- Ability to understand and apply management principles concerning budgeting, personnel costs, and expenses
- Ability to operate a cash register efficiently and accurately
- Ability to safely and properly operate equipment, including electric/manual hand jack, floor scrubber, and cardboard baler and perform general cleaning duties to company standards
- Ability to stay organized and multi-task in a professional and efficient manner, following instructions and giving attention to detail
- Meets any state and local requirements for handling and selling alcoholic beverages
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a retail environment
- A combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge
