Role and Responsibilities
The Plant Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the manufacturing plant, including production, maintenance and quality assurance and overall operational efficiency. This role requires a strong understanding of lean principles, data analysis, and operational metrics to drive continuous improvement. The Plant Manager will also ensure that company policies and procedures are followed and assist in the training and development of staff. The Plant Manager will be required to be deeply engrained with activities across the entire plant. Plant Manager will ensure coordination of activities and focus with the Sales, Engineering and Supply Chain team(s). The Plant Manager responsibilities include, but may not be limited to,
- Contribute to and support the vision, mission, and guiding principles of the company.
- Maintain a safe work environment and ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed to protect employees and visitors.
- Provide overall leadership, direction, and motivation to achieve company, financial, and customer objectives.
- Coordinate plant activities through departmental managers to ensure objectives are accomplished in a timely, cost-effective manner, while adhering to production schedules and budget targets.
- Drive continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing processes, eliminating waste and enhancing operational efficiency.
- Oversee and support SIOP (Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning) process to maintain alignment between demand and plant capacity via NetSuite ERP.
- Ensure effective use of ERP & MRP systems to optimize production planning, inventory control and order fulfillment.
- Monitor and review variances in production, cost, and efficiency, ensuring financial accuracy and identifying areas for ongoing improvement.
- Understand and support the use of financial statements, including profit & loss statements, to ensure plant operations are aligned with financial goals.
- Continuously review and analyze operational data, providing clear communication of performance metrics to senior leadership.
- Lead efforts to identify root causes of inefficiencies or issues and implement corrective actions to maintain operational excellence.
- Support plant transformation efforts by maintaining lean practices and ensuring they are sustained over time.
- Promote a culture of accountability and continuous formal problem-solving across all levels of the plant. Ensure new employees are properly trained and onboarded into their respective department.
- Proactively conduct performance management, training, and development programs for plant staff. Work closely with Human Resources to ensure continuous employee support and development is in place.
- Lead the compliance efforts to maintain all regulatory agency requirements.
- Stay up to date with latest production trends, best practices, and technology.
- Develop and lead great teams in manner which perpetuates the company’s vision, code of conduct and goals.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations, ensuring continuous compliance.
- 5 years operational experience at the plant management level for an entire operation of greater than 50 team members. Along with 5 years of progressive career development within an operations function.
- Proven leadership and management experience in an industrial manufacturing environment with a focus on deploying and ensuring Lean Manufacturing principles.
- LEAN Green Belt (or higher) preferred. Exposure to Hoshin or the Danaher Business Model a plus.
- Strong knowledge of Lean methodologies, with a demonstrated ability to support and maintain processes like value stream mapping, Kaizen, 6S, and waste reduction.
- Extensive experience (5 years) with SIOP, MRP and ABC type stocking strategies, including direct experience with ERP and MRP systems; maintaining and optimizing production planning and inventory control processes.
- Experience monitoring financial performance, conducting variance analysis, and supporting the alignment of plant operations with financial targets.
- Proven track record in supporting plant transformation efforts focused on advancing operational efficiency.
- Experience in leading root cause analysis and supporting corrective action processes with formal experience in LEAN/Problem Solving skills such as 5 Whys and Pareto.
- Strong team building, decision-making, and people management skills.
- Familiarity with ISO 9000 Quality Management Systems.
- Advanced skill and training in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) and ERP/MRP software.
- 5 years of experience in supporting Lean Manufacturing, SIOP, or a related field.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required; MBA preferred.
- Positive attitude, self-directed, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
