The Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency (KRESA) is a critical part of Michigan’s education system serving the Greater Kalamazoo region and provides specialized services to schools and communities and optimizes resources by centralizing innovative programs and services. We partner with school districts and the broader community to offer essential programs including early childhood education, special education, career learning , and educator development, ensuring that learners of all ages receive the support they need.
We are currently seeking an Occupational Therapist (Part-Time: 30 hours max) at WoodsEdge LC in Portage, Michigan.
The essential responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
- Plans and implements occupational therapy services for students in CI, AI, HI, SXI programs and in the Young Adult Program
- Provides practice in functional, prevocational, vocational, and activities of daily living
- Coordinates participation in sensorimotor, educational, recreational, and social activities designed to help students develop physical or mental functioning
- Consults with other members of the school team to select activities consistent with needs and capabilities of the student and to coordinate occupational therapy with other educational activities
- Selects constructive activities suited to student’s physical capacity, functioning level, and interest
- Completes OT evaluations of students; evaluates students’ progress and prepares written reports
- Attends and participates in MET, IEPT, and IFSP meetings
- Designs and constructs special equipment for students and suggests adaptation of student’s environment
- Requisitions supplies and equipment; lays out materials for student’s use and cleans and repairs tools at end of sessions
- Provides supervision and coordinates activities of the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants and paraprofessionals
- Regular and consistent attendance
- Other duties as assigned
Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) with related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be registered as an Occupational Therapist.
This is a 11-month calendar position in job grade 17 with an hourly rate of pay between $30.72 - $67.77.
