Anticipated opening for the 2025-2026 School Year
Woodside School is seeking a passionate and collaborative Pre-Kindergarten Teacher to join our early childhood team. The successful candidate will bring energy, creativity, and a commitment to nurturing young learners in a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment. This position is ideal for an educator who values play-based, developmentally appropriate learning experiences and believes deeply in the importance of building foundational skills that prepare students for lifelong learning. While this is Woodside's first Pre-K program, there are establisehd Pre-K programs and collagues in district for collaboration and team-work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Exhibit passion and a commitment to helping all young learners grow and develop at a high level
- Create and maintain a classroom culture rooted in respect, curiosity, and joy in learning
- Contribute to a school environment that emphasizes appreciation, collegiality, and innovation
- Collaborate with colleagues in a team-based approach to teaching and learning
- Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate instruction in early literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional learning infomred by Pre-K for Me Model
- Provide differentiated support and learning experiences based on student needs and interests
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with students, families, and colleagues
- Provide direct supervision and support to Pre-K support staff
- Implement classroom management strategies that are positive, proactive, and aligned with district expectations
- Engage in ongoing professional learning and self-reflection to enhance instructional practice
- All other non-teaching duties as outlined in the Teacher’s Contract
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood or Elementary Education.
- State of Maine Certification in Early Childhood (081), Early Elementary (029), or General Elementary (020, PreK-6).
- State of Maine Department of Education background check (CHRC) authorization.
- Strong understanding of child development and early childhood pedagogy.
- Experience with play-based, student-centered instruction preferred.
- Familiarity with the Pre-K for Me model, or interest and ability to learn.
- Commitment to continuous self-improvement and learning.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and maintain strong, positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
