About the Role :

The GOM Specialist Process Engineer III is responsible for providing process engineering support to the Shenzi TLP facility in the Gulf of Mexico. This position requires interface with Operations, Production Engineering, HSE and other functions, and is responsible for providing technical support to the production facility and advising on process & production optimization. This role will report to the Frontline Engineering Team Lead for the Gulf of Mexico and is based in Houston, Texas.

Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Provide technical leadership and support in process engineering across subsea flowline and topsides equipment to the operations and maintenance teams. Foster effective relationships with both office and site-based teams.
  • Develop process solutions to ensure safe and reliable operations which may include new permanent or temporary equipment.
  • Lead or participate as a member of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) teams as required.
  • Manage the design, detailed engineering, and work management planning of facilities process modifications using an MOC process.
  • Lead or participate in HAZOPs, HAZIDs, LOPAs, other risk assessments and Design Reviews as required.
  • Provides governance and oversight to ensure engineering practices are carried out in accordance with the required technical standards, processes, and procedures while operating in compliance with local regulations and corporate standards.
  • Own and continually improve the process surveillance tools and KPIs across the operated facilities.
  • Provision of technical expertise and direction into "Operational Risk Assessment" scenarios related to process engineering.
  • Identify, design, and implement engineering & maintenance change projects as they relate to the process engineering discipline, critical controls, in accordance with Management of Change procedures. Provide review and endorsement where applicable for management of change projects led by others.
  • Provide guidance to engineering contractors on the application of Woodside's procedures and guidelines.
  • Routine travel to offshore facilities may be required to support projects as needed. Trips could be minimum 3 days to in excess of a week.

Skills & Experience :

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Process / Chemical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline
  • 5 years' industry related experience, with minimum 3 years supporting producing oil & gas facilities.
  • Strong technical knowledge of separation, dehydration and compression is required.
  • Knowledge of flow assurance risks associated with offshore deepwater production facilities is a plus.
  • Knowledge of production and water injection system chemical treatment is a plus.
  • Water injection (seawater processing) experience is a plus.
  • Experience with process & hydraulic simulation tools (e.g. Aspentech HYSYS)
  • Detailed, working knowledge of Process Safety
  • Experience with relevant process safety risk assessments and functional safety tools.
  • Working knowledge of API codes affecting process design (e.g. API RP 14C, 14E, 520, 521)
  • Familiarity with ISA / IEE codes for safety and control systems
  • Familiarity with PI data historian
  • Experience with engineering design, construction, commissioning, and oil & gas operational background.
  • Demonstrates adaptability, a learning mindset, and strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrates strong teamwork and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrates HSE leadership in a producing asset environment.
  • Demonstrates high levels of autonomy and business acumen.
  • Knowledge in system integration - ability to solve complex problems, understanding the interactions between the interfaces.
  • Experience with / knowledge of regulatory requirements in the Gulf of Mexico
  • BSEE requirements
