Description
Retail Center Manager
Direct Report: Vice President of Operations
Primary Roles:
- Hires and train as needed to ensure adequate personnel is on hand to provide outstanding customer service.
- Organizes and oversees the schedules and performance of store employees.
- Supervise, train, and assist employees like Sales Representatives, Retail Store Clerks, Order Pullers, Forklift Operators, Delivery Drivers, and Dispatchers in customer service, store maintenance, delivery, dispatch, and product promotions.
- Implement cross-training of employees and Assistant Managers to always maintain productivity.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
- Maintain safe and organized retail center.
- Maintain accurate employee personnel and training files.
- Organize and report on monthly safety meetings.
- Manage all controllable costs with a view to maintaining profitability.
- Maintain proper inventory levels, ensure stocking, implement purchasing plans, and maintain contact with corporate buyers and suppliers to ensure maximum efficiency in meeting sales goals.
- Maintain appropriate shrink/cull levels in accordance with sales and gross profit.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership to the assigned location, overseeing retail activities, delivery activities, and store.
- Reviews and analyzes sales and operational records and reports; uses data to project sales, determine profitability and targets, and to identify potential new markets or customer targets.
- Collaborates with Sales manager to develop sales goals for each location, monitors progress toward those goals, and develops strategies to attract and retain customers.
- Collaborates with Marketing manager on marketing programs and promotions to increase sales and/or introduce new products and services.
- Identifies opportunities for improvement in the store; designs and implements training, strategies, policies, goals, and other resources to maximize productivity and morale.
- Schedules and directs regular sales meetings and events to share information, set and revise goals, and to increase morale.
- Collaborates with executive leadership to develop territories, sales quotas, and strategies.
- Monitors and approves store expenses.
- Maintains knowledge of market, competition, and best practices and trends in sales techniques and strategies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent sales and customer service skills, with proven negotiation skills.
- Excellent supervisory and leadership skills.
- Thorough understanding of company’s products and/or services, and those of immediate competitors in the surrounding market.
- Ability to communicate and connect with retail, contractor, and commercial customers.
- Ability to accept coaching and implement corrective actions from supervisors and peers to meet established goals.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree 2 years of Woodson experience or other similar retail experience OR
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) 3 years of Woodson experience or other similar retail experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to occasionally travel to other territories or to trade shows.
