Toddler/Preschool Teacher

Woodstock Garden School is a very happy toddler/preschool childcare located on a 1/3 acre lush garden full of opportunities to explore and play. We have a year-round garden, and a raspberry patch, plus a bamboo forest with tunnels to explore. The school is located in a 100-year-old bungalow just a few blocks from SE Woodstock Blvd and SE 52nd Ave. We are outside year round.

We are currently hiring for a position that would work 4 days a week, from 11am-5pm. The last hour of the day, 4-5pm, you will be working alone with 0-4 children and performing basic closing duties. Once all late children are picked up and closing duties are done, you are free to go, so sometimes you may finish before 5pm.

We opened in Summer 2023 and are looking to add one more teacher to our group to accommodate our growing posse of kids. We have very low child turnover and so far zero teacher turnover. Our ratios are currently 4:1 or better, and the children you would work with range in age from 1.5-3. We have a positive, supportive atmosphere and welcome a new teacher who genuinely loves young children, is able to take initiative, and doesn't mind being outside year-round!

Responsibilities

- Collaborate with other teachers to provide quality care and early childhood education for children aged 1 to 3 years using a curriculum as well as active engagement with children during free play.

-Be responsible for feeding, diapering, and napping children.

- Create a safe, engaging, and stimulating environment for children to learn and grow.

- Spend time outdoors every day, exploring and utilizing our beautiful garden.

- Foster positive relationships with parents and guardians, providing regular updates on their child's progress and well-being.

Please note- at least two years of toddler/preschool experience is REQUIRED for this job, as is a genuine delight in this age of child. Please do not apply if you haven't worked with this age before. We are looking for the best of the best!

This job offers 5 weeks of fully paid vacation per year plus all school holidays paid, and a guaranteed $1/hour raise annually, as well as flexible scheduling if needed. Pay starts at $21/hr. Up to 3 snow days per year are also fully paid.

The start date is flexible- I'm generally looking for someone to start around March 2025 but we can discuss that if you have different needs.
