I. Position Overview: |
The Procurement Manager will oversee the sourcing, negotiation, and purchasing of materials, services, and equipment critical to pharmaceutical manufacturing operations. This role ensures cost efficiency, quality, and timely delivery of goods to support production schedules while maintaining compliance with regulatory and company standards. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, develop supplier relationships, and implement procurement strategies to optimize the supply chain.
II. Specific Duties, Activities, and Responsibilities: |
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Management
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for raw materials, packaging, and equipment.
- Proactively negotiates strategic competitive pricing, challenges the supplier and looks for creative solutions to ensure cost competitiveness and service.
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers to meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
- Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliable supply and continuous improvement.
- Build expertise and relationships for importing pharmaceutical and packaging materials, with an understanding of customs clearance.
- Procurement Operations
- Oversee day-to-day procurement activities, including placing purchase orders, monitoring order status, and ensuring timely delivery.
- Manage procurement budgets and contribute to cost-saving initiatives.
- Resolve supply issues, such as material shortages or delivery delays, promptly and effectively.
- Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with FDA, cGMP, and other regulatory requirements.
- Monitor supplier performance and conduct regular audits to maintain compliance with quality standards.
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks to minimize production disruptions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Quality, Production, Engineering, New Product Development and Finance teams to align procurement with operational goals.
- Support new product launches and process changes by sourcing new materials or suppliers as required.
- Data Analysis and Reporting
- Track and analyze procurement metrics, including cost savings, supplier performance, and inventory levels.
- Prepare and present reports to management on procurement performance and opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain effectiveness of the Quality System components relevant to this position.
- Identify, evaluate, and manage risk to ensure product quality. Communicate risk policies and processes throughout the organization.

III. Position Requirements: |
Education or Equivalent:
- Minimum requirement of Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business Administration or related field, or equivalent work experience
- Qualification equivalent to APICS certification is a strong advantage.
Experience:
- A minimum of 7 years of progressively increasing experience in a procurement environment.
- Strong understanding of FDA, cGMP, and other regulatory requirements.
- Proven negotiation and contract management skills.
- Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems, preferably JDE; along with excel.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Prior experience in managing a team.
