What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Social Worker - WHS (24-25) position at Woodsville High School?
Woodsville High School is a 9-12 school with approximately 215 students located along the Connecticut River in the beautiful Upper Valley. We have a full-time opening for a school social worker for the 2024-25 school year. The social worker will serve as Woodsville High School's Student Assistance Coordinator.
Responsibilities for School Social Worker/Student Assistance Coordinator:
• Identifiy, assess and provide early intervention and referral services for students who are working through individual, family and peer issues that disrupt their educational success, chance to thrive, and ability to make healthy choices
• Provide information and education to families
• Connect student and families with local/community resources
• Develop service plans and conduct reviews as needed throughout the duration of plan
• Work with counseling team to ensure students have mental health supports needed
• Complete and maintain documentation in a timely and accurate manner and according to Federal, State, and Center guidelines
• Write reports to court, school, or other community agencies as necessary
• Follow up with mental health providers and physicians in cases involving hospital admissions as a point of contact with high school
• Communicate with external psychiatric care providers as well as representatives from civic assistance programs to help schedule treatment sessions for those patients who need them
• Able to make professional evaluations, decisions, and recommendations for treatment planning and implementation
• Current school social worker license or eligible to obtain license
• 3 years of experience in counseling or mental health services/social work (preferred)
Knowledge of adolescent development and familiarity with school operations
• Able to work independently and as a positive member of a team
• Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with mentally or emotionally disabled persons and their families
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong computer literacy skills
