Assistant Principal, Woodward North (Pre-K through 6th)
The Assistant Principal is a member of the Woodward North Administrative Staff and shares in the responsibility for the management and overall effectiveness of the school.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assumes the role of the Principal in his/her absence
- Assists the Principal with recruitment and selection of new and replacement faculty
- With the Principal, evaluates the quality of parent conferences and progress reports
- Manages budget as assigned
- Coordinates and analyzes all standardized tests with the Principal and School Counselor.
- Researches instructional strategies and resources for ongoing professional development, teacher growth, and effective classroom management
- Visits classrooms frequently for a collaborative approach to instructional support; is familiar with each teacher’s curriculum plan or current unit of study
- Facilitates the effective implementation of curriculum
- Oversees the development, implementation and updating of consistent methods for and documentation of assessment of student academic progress
- Oversee textbook and teacher material selection
- Serves as a consultant to faculty in matters of classroom management, teaching methods and school procedures
- Occasionally provides academic guidance to students
- Assists with discipline issues
- Serves as the Administrative representative on the Woodward North Innovation Team
- Works closely with Parent Community to plan and organize events
- Works with Facilities and Food Services to plan and organize events
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
To perform this role successfully, an individual must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
- Masters degree in teaching subject matter, counseling and/or educational administration preferred.
- Ample teaching and/or administration experience in an independent school environment preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
The Assistant Principal is a salaried ten-month position. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. EOE.
