The Senior Estimator is a high-level career position responsible for all budgets and estimates throughout the development of large complex projects.

QUALIFICATIONS AND TECHNICAL SKILLS:

- Candidates for this position must be motivated self-starters and able to work with minimal supervision and shall have at least 10 years of estimating experience with proven results
- B.S degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
- The Senior Estimator mentors, trains, and gives direction to Lead Estimators, Estimators, and Interns
- Strong organizational, time management skills and can solve problems, generate ideas, and make improvements
- Possess an understanding of Owner contracts, WDB subcontracts, and vendor contracts
- Builds strong working relationships with other departments within the Woodward organization
- The Senior Estimator demonstrates effective negotiating skills, presentation skills, and the ability to sell and represent the company in the best possible light to clients and design team members
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Produce conceptual and programmatic estimates; review and analyze historical cost information to develop and/or adjust estimates
- Provide conceptual studies and alternate systems evaluations between milestone estimates as required
- The Senior Estimator will review documents for completeness; verify that previously accepted cost management suggestions are incorporated; provide constructability and check-set review comments to ensure quality; appropriately address questions to architects/engineers for clarification
- Evaluate labor pricing/production for specific projects and/or locations; demonstrate proficiency in material, labor sub and equipment pricing for all trade disciplines
- Prepare estimating action lists; establish responsibilities and make assignments to estimating team members; coordinate and supervise work; establish schedule for completion of tasks to meet project requirements; keep VP of Preconstruction advised regarding schedule
- The Senior Estimator establishes overall bid package and bid alternates strategy for projects; coordinate issuance of early release packages, as required to support project schedule
- Ensure estimates are accurate and complete; manage project risk issues; monitor and control design to maintain program scope; control cost so that previous estimates are not exceeded
- The Senior Estimator prepares and/or assists operations with preparation of subcontractor bid packages as required to coordinate work of various trades to maximize profit and reduce risk; obtain consensus with operations personnel of scope requirements.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Proficient in MS Office Suite
- Substantial knowledge of computer operations and the following applications: Sage Estimating software, MS Project, Plan Swift, and Bluebeam
- Extensive knowledge of estimating procedures, documents, pricing, take-offs, and cost analysis
- Effective use of estimating related software
- Knowledge of building information modeling applications
