As we grow, we are seeking a dynamic Geospatial Technician specializing in Bathymetric LiDAR.
Job Summary
This position is primarily responsible for performing bathymetric lidar mapping tasks on projects worldwide.
Essential Functions
- Processing and editing of bathymetric and topographic lidar.
- Digital camera image processing.
- Performs QA/QC of processed data.
- May perform primary lead duties on projects.
- May assist in the development and implementation of QA/QC standards.
- Perform final QA/QC in all project deliverables.
- Coaches and mentors technical team members, depending on experience level.
- Responsible for communicating project status updates to Team Lead as needed.
- Assist in project layout and planning.
- Assist with data management and report creation.
- Collaborate with team on project workload; shifting responsibilities as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D and five (5) years of professional experience in a geospatial field (e.g. topo-bathymetric lidar, topographic lidar, geospatial data processing).
- Bachelor's degree (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) is preferred.
- Must be proficient in one or more geospatial related functions (e.g. lidar data editing, GIS, geospatial mapping, hydrographic survey).
- Must be proficient in geospatial system related software applications such as TerraSolid, Esri ArcGIS, and/or Bentley MicroStation.
- Bathymetric mapping / hydrographic survey experience preferred.
- Must be mentally and physically capable of performing all essential duties required of the position.
- Must have intermediate verbal and written communication skills for both internal and external relationships.
- Must be able to effectively present information before groups of clients or employees.
- Must be able to perform intermediate mathematical calculations.
- Must be able to write clear and concise reports and correspondence.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Occasional travel required.
Resulting Physical Qualifications
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to operate and manipulate standard office equipment.
- Must be able to occasionally reach, bend, climb and/or balance.
- Must be able to frequently lift and/or move 10 to 50 pounds.
- Must have visual abilities of close vision, distance and color vision, peripheral vision, depth (stereo) vision and the ability to adjust focus.
