Job Title: Sales Clerk, The Museum Shop

Purpose:
To perform all retail duties including customer service, stocking merchandise, inventory control, and processing phone orders, mail orders, and website orders.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interacts with customer and assists them with purchase, as needed; may suggest new products based on customer’s selection; ensures a pleasant buying experience.
- Conduct Shop sales and other cash register transactions through operation of the Point-of-Sale system.
- Promote memberships.
- Provides information about the Museum; shares knowledge about permanent and changing exhibitions with visitors.
- Familiarity with Shop merchandise
- Responds to online or telephone sales, coordinates shipping and/or delivery of merchandise to customers by phone and/or email; works closely with the mailroom to process orders.
- Merchandises store and store displays with the direction of Shop Supervisor
- Counts inventory, re-stocks, order, receives, stock and organize supplies, and prices store merchandise through the direction of the Shop Supervisor
- Prepare bank deposit, cash report, end-of-day sales report, and request change from bank as needed.
- Maintains general housekeeping cleanliness within the area; organize, clean, dust, fold, fluff.
- Participates in the annual Shop physical inventory process.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Shop Supervisor, including assistance with special events.

EDUCATION:
- High school diploma, or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in sales, in a retail environment
- Knowledge of Point-of-Sale / Inventory procedures (preferred but not essential)
