NIFS Personal Trainer
SUMMARY OF The National Institute for Fitness and Sport is looking for a certified personal trainer for our retirement community fitness center in Baltimore, MD. The Personal Trainer conducts NIFS training services in a safe and effective manner according to the needs of each training participant. NIFS personal trainers deliver exceptional service and adhere to the exercise prescription standards at the facility.

The Personal Trainer conducts NIFS training services in a safe and effective manner according to the needs of each training participant. NIFS personal trainers deliver exceptional service and adhere to the exercise prescription standards at the facility.
Essential Duties
- Demonstrates proper and safe use of all fitness center equipment
- Adheres to industry-acceptable training expectations including but not limited to developing exercise programs using ACSM health screening guidelines and other educational resources from reputable organizations (NASM, NSCA, etc.), and accepting a variety of clientele in training customers (apparently healthy adults, special populations, etc.)
- Pays constant attention to fitness level and age of the training clientele and provides exercise guidance/instruction accordingly; instructs participants on proper exercise techniques, uses a variety of aerobic and resistance exercise techniques to develop knowledgeable, safe and effective programs; provides variety in each training session
- Exhibits professionalism when dealing with customers, facility members, and staff
- Limits securing a substitute to an average of once a month and is expected to call onsite manager and client 24 hours in advance if cancellation is necessary
- Maintains appropriate and accurate documentation of training schedules, package countdowns, and payroll records
- Provides participants with up-to-date information on programs being held at the fitness center
- Refrains from training outside clientele onsite, and may not advertise their personal business or products onsite to clients
- Projects enthusiasm, motivation, a positive personality, and a willingness to help
- Demonstrates work ethic, ingenuity, customer care, and attention to detail
- Maintains familiarity with and abides by the policies stated in the NIFS Employee Handbook
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Personal Training Certification required
- Relevant job experience and training with older adults required
- Ability to safely and accurately prescribe exercise for older adults using ACSM guidelines
- ACSM Health/Fitness Specialist Certification preferred; other industry-related certifications (CPT, CSCS, etc) acknowledged
- Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification required
