What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pre-Engineering Teacher position at Worcester County Board of Education?
POSITION: Pre-Engineering Teacher – Worcester Technical High School
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity level of the students.
- Implements established curriculum.
- Employs instructional methods and materials that support curriculum objectives.
- Assesses the progress of students on a regular basis and maintains accurate records.
- Participates in ongoing professional development.
- Responsible for maintaining current licensure, certification, or registration regulations administered by professional organizations or legally constituted authorities in the state in the career area to be taught.
- Teach 3-4 course preparations. Courses include: computer science, engineering, and physics.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Preferred degree in an engineering field, computer science, or physics.
- Preferred employment experience in engineering.
- Preferred experience working with high-school-aged students.
- Possess leadership and personal qualities necessary to work effectively with students, teachers, parents, and administrators.
- Must hold a valid Maryland teacher certificate/license in the related field.
- Must be willing to attend paid residential summer professional development.
- Preferred Project Lead the Way Pre-Engineering experience or attend Project Lead the Way summer professional learning/training.
DUTY YEAR AND SALARY:
This is a 10-month position. Salary is based on the appropriate teachers' scale and engineering employment experience.
