What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nutrition Aide position at Worcester County Commission on Aging?
SUMMARY
The nutrition aide will provide assistance to the Nutrition Manager and Nutrition Assistant in running our on-site nutrition program for Worcester County seniors. The position will be 16 to 24 hours weekly, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, between 9:30 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. No nights or weekends. Unbenefited. Starting wage $17.47.
DUTIES
The nutrition aide’s primary focus will be to help in the preparation of meals for Worcester County’s Meals On Wheels and Congregate Meals programs. This will entail food preparation, cooking, plating, and packaging of meals. In addition, the aide will work with the department leadership in the overall appearance and workflow of the kitchen and its associated areas. This can involve related duties such as, but not limited to, properly storing food and supplies, helping with the keeping of inventories and daily maintenance of the kitchen and associated areas (washing dishes, cleaning and overall upkeep of the department). The candidate should also deliver meals in our Meals On Wheels program on an as needed basis.
REQUIREMENTS
· 3 years commercial or professional kitchen experience.
· Good communication & people skills
· Good organizational abilities
· HS diploma or equivalent
· Valid driver’s license with good record
· Reliable transportation
· Good health and physical strength
· Zero drama
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
· Must be able to follow a menu in the preparation and cooking of meals
· Ability to work with the elderly and disabled individuals
· Must be able to stand and walk 6 hours
· Must be able to lift, carry, push and or pull 50 lbs minimum
· Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch and reach.
· Must possess good hearing, visual capability and physical balance.
· Must be able to adapt to changing situations in the workplace demonstrating a good attitude, top ‘customer relations’ skills.
· Cross training and coverage for other duties may be required.
· Must participate and become certified (and maintain certification) in all required training, including but not limited to CPR and First Aid
