Worcester Cultural Academy Charter Public School seeks a talented Speech and Language Pathologist for the 2024-25 school year. We are looking for culturally competent candidates that possess experience working as educators in diverse schools with English Language Learners and students with IEPs and 504 plans. About the School Worcester Cultural Academy Charter Public School opened August 2023 and is chartered for grades K-4. Qualifications ● Licensed Speech and Language Pathologist with experience working with students in a K-12 school setting ● Experience in both small group and one-on-one service delivery and in a co-treatment model is required. ● Experience with designing instruction for student social skills group and knowledge of the CASEL standards is required. ● An understanding of behavior modification for maximum service delivery is preferred ● A passion for being part of a team-oriented, mission-driven school culture. ● Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences including students, staff, and families across a range of identities. ● Demonstrated student-centered, cultural competence and trauma informed skills. ● Persistence in the face of obstacles, productive problem-solving to counter setbacks, and takes initiative to seize opportunities to make a change. ● Skilled at reflecting on how to improve, self-awareness of one's strengths and weaknesses, and willingness to take responsibility for actions and mistakes. ● Bilingual preferred Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited to the following: ● Collaborate with staff and parents in meetings to determine educational needs of students with regard to speech and language. ● Support teachers and staff with the speech, language, social communication, and cognitive communication skill development of students. ● Conduct standardized evaluations on students when required and report out on results of said evaluations per professional practice requirements. ● Uphold WCA policies and procedures as applicable. ● Follow and comply with all legal obligations applicable to your position at WCA. ● Implement current IEPs for students identified as requiring Speech-Language Pathology services to support their learning needs. ● Conduct service delivery in a small group or one-on-one, write progress reports and goals for students on IEPs, and 504 plans. ● Collect and use data through both formal and informal assessments on individual students, and determine needed supports and strategies to inform service delivery. ● Co-treat with the school adjustment counselor or occupational therapist when appropriate for student success. ● Serve as an expert member of social emotional learning committees when asked ● Model and demonstrate a strong commitment to: ○ the school’s vision and motivating others to do the same; ○ the work of being an anti-racist school; ○ student empowerment, and commitment to allowing students to play an active role in supporting the school’s vision and climate; and ○ a “whatever it takes” spirit to ensure that each student is successful. ○ asset-based, trauma-informed practices. ● Demonstrate enthusiasm for fostering teamwork and collaboration to support excellence in teaching and learning. ● Show a commitment to continually seek out perspectives across a range of identities and can respond appropriately to the perspectives of students, staff, families, and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead and participate in these events, ranging from student and family orientation activities to celebrations of learning to graduation. We work together to support the safe and happy arrival and dismissal of our students, collaborate and plan together and use data to guide decision-making. We are intentional about engaging our faculty and staff in the development of the Academy and of themselves. School-wide professional meetings happen before the start of the school year and throughout. Compensation: Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
