SUBJECT: SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST ASSISTANT
REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF SPECIAL EDUCATION AND INTERVENTION SERVICES
ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE: This individual is accountable for providing support to students ages 3 to 22 with a variety of communication disorders under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist. A supervising Speech-Language Pathologist is defined as a Speech-Language Pathologist licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Division of Professional Licensure, Board of Registration in Speech-Language Pathology, in good standing, who has been practicing for at least two years following licensure).
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: (to be included along with other responsibilities)
The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant may perform the following tasks under the supervision of the licensed Speech-Language Pathologist and is responsible for:
1. Assisting with speech-language screenings (without interpretation)
2. Assisting with informal documentation as directed by the supervisor
3. Following documented treatment plans of protocols developed by the supervisor
4. Providing direct speech-language services for students on IEPs and 504.
5. Documenting student performance (e.g., tallying data for the Speech-Language Pathologist to use, preparing charts, records, and graphs) and reporting this information to the supervisor
6. Preparing quarterly progress notes of student progress towards IEP goals to be reviewed by the supervisor and held in student records
7. Assisting the Speech-Language Pathologist during assessment of students
8. Assisting with clerical duties such as preparing materials and scheduling activities as directed by the supervisor
9. Performing checks and maintenance of equipment
10. Collecting data for monitoring quality improvement.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. MA Speech-Language Pathology Assistant license issued by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Division of Professional Licensure, Board of Speech-Language Pathology.
2. BA Degree
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Experience working with students of varying ages and with varying needs and ethnic backgrounds.
2. Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with Speech-Language Pathologist, teachers and other school personnel.
3. Demonstrated experience supporting students with special needs
4. Ability to speak Albanian, Arabic, Nepali, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese, Twi or an African Language
WORK YEAR: School year.
SALARY: $55,947.00 to $65,240.00 annually
