OFFICIAL TITLE: Staff Associate, Budget Analyst
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Director of Budget, Planning and Policy Development
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Day to day supervision of occasional temporary or student support personnel
General Statement of Duties: Assists in the development of budget frameworks to enhance information flow and strengthen internal controls. Assist departments in developing and implementing policy and procedures to ensure program activity is appropriately reported in the University financial systems.
Responsibilities
(E = "Essential Functions")
- (E) Assists in the development and revision of policies and procedures for the University
- (E) Responds to questions and special requests for financial data and analysis, and assuring appropriate follow-through and/or resolution
- (E) Provides the necessary support and assistance to the Director of Budget, Planning and Policy
- (E) Development in the development, presentation and monitoring of the University's operating budget.
- (E) Works collaboratively with administration and staff in all divisions of the University and coordinates and promotes a strong service orientation across the division.
- Prepare complex reports including data retrieval via queries and reports as well as interpretation of data to forecast and verify results as well as answer department and senior management questions.
- Review and analyze budget to actual reports on a quarterly basis
- Review, approve all part time employee positions for the university.
- Approve and enter subsequent budget transfers in accordance with established guidelines
- Create requisitions, approve invoices for university memberships
- (E) Responsible for contributing to the WSU Strategic Plan.

Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in budget or financial analysis
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, especially Excel
- Strong analytical skills and financial aptitude
- Advanced spreadsheet skills
- Must be highly self-motivated and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Able to handle confidential material and sensitive information discreetly
- Must be able to work across functions and departments in developing information and solutions with all levels of staff
- Communicate effectively, both written and verbal

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a closely related area required
Additional Information:
This is a full-time, benefited, exempt, professional APA position. The firm annual salary range for this position is $70,000-$75,000, commensurate with education and experience.
