Job Summary
The Claims Adjuster position focuses primarily on general and auto liability at Hogan, with responsibility for managing and resolving claims with varying levels of complexity while providing exceptional customer service. This role requires strong expertise in general liability and auto liability, as well as the ability to analyze claims exposure. The position is remote and involves extensive interaction with various parties, including our customers, to ensure effective communication and resolution of claims.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Investigates, evaluates, and resolves all levels of general liability and auto liability claims.
- Exceptional communication (written and verbal), evaluating, influencing, and negotiating to effectively develop productive working relationships with internal/external peers and other professionals across organizational lines.
- Ensures that claim file documentation, file notes, and reserves are current and accurate.
- Works from a diary system to review and resolve claims within compliance guidelines, policy provisions, corporate policies, and standard operating procedures.
- Determines appropriate methods and extent of needed investigation for all assigned claims, including hiring field adjusters for appraisals, obtaining police reports, witness statements, estimates, and photos to evaluate liability, damages, and proper coverage.
- Applies knowledge of estimating standards ranging from minor to moderate complexity.
- Acts as a technical reference point and provides training/coaching to less experienced team members.
- Other duties as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- 5 years of related claims experience
- Ability to manage multiple claims in various stages
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail
- Experience in the transportation/trucking industry preferred
- Proficient in Word and Excel
- Commercial trucking, Safety Compliance, and Cargo experience are a plus
