JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
The Maintenance specialist position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain facility equipment by performing carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC work, including WSC vehicles, according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes, to support the achievement of WSC’s business goals and objectives. Work will be performed at WSC Contracted TxDot Safety Rest Area facilities throughout the State of Texas.
Essential Functions

1. Ensures all operational and safety procedures are properly followed, maintaining a clean and safe work area.
2. Plans and executes facility projects with WSC staff and contractors.
3. Performs minor electrical, plumbing, HVAC maintenance, painting, carpentry and masonry work. Orders parts as required maintaining all required documentation, and coordinates for major repairs with certified technicians when necessary.
4. Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
5. Diagnose problems, replace and/or repair parts, test and make appropriate adjustments.
6. Performs preventative maintenance on equipment as necessary.
7. Use a variety of hand and power tools, portable and stationery power equipment.
8. Responsible to operate and maintain various equipment, including pressure washers and lawn equipment.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up 75 pounds or more. The employee must be able to work in potentially dangerous situations, i.e., heights, electricity. The employee will work in all environmental conditions, and extreme weather conditions.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time Exempt position, forty hours per work, Monday through Friday: however, weekends will be required. Availability for emergency repairs required.
Travel
Travel is required including overnight and some weekends.
Required Education and Experience
1. High school diploma or GED.
2. Two (2) year’s working experience in facility maintenance.
3. Two (2) years’ working experience in plumbing, electrical, and refrigeration equipment – repair and installation.
Preferred Education and Experience
1. Experience operating equipment including a forklift, scissor lift, drivable boom.
2. Experience operating a one-ton truck.
3. Working with people with disabilities.
Licenses/Work Authorization/Security Clearance
1. Valid Driver’s license with certificate of insurability (corporate auto policy).
2. Drug Screen.
3. WSC background check.
