What You’ll Do
As a staff accountant, you will collaborate with the accounting team to:
Manage Accounts Receivable (AR):
- Generate and send invoices.
- Take a proactive approach to collections by following up on unpaid invoices through email and phone calls.
- Maintain accurate records of AR activities, including documentation of communication and resolutions.
Oversee Accounts Payable (AP):
- Process vendor payments and approvals, ensuring all payments are timely and accurate.
- Review and verify invoices for accuracy, resolving discrepancies as they arise.
Process Payroll:
- Run bi-weekly payroll, ensuring all hours, commissions, and benefits contributions are up-to-date.
Manage the Monthly Close Process:
- Within 5 business days after month end, ensure all transactions are closed, accruals are made, and bank recs are complete.
Record Daily Financial Transactions:
- Enter all financial transactions into Sage Intacct with precision and attention to detail.
- Reconcile accounts regularly to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Provide Excellent Customer Service:
- Serve as a key point of contact for client billing and payment inquiries, offering prompt and professional solutions.
Improve Processes:
- Identify opportunities to enhance operations, providing greater accuracy and efficiency.
Execute Special Projects:
- Work closely with the leadership team on special projects, including but not limited to the annual audit, tax preparation, board deck review, and budgeting/forecasting.
- Assist with compliance and financial regulations.

What We’re Looking for
To thrive in this role, you should have:
Experience & Expertise:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- A CPA is preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience in accounting, with experience in a public accounting role preferred.
- Proficiency in Sage Intacct (preferred) or other ERP.
- Familiarity with technology tools such as Paystand (AR) and Ramp (AP) is a plus.
Organizational Skills:
- Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all financial tasks.
Communication Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to professionally handle client calls and inquiries.
Problem-Solving and Initiative:
- A proactive problem-solving mentality with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and navigate challenges effectively.
Customer Service Mindset:
- A collaborative approach with a focus on providing exceptional customer service and resolving issues promptly, but also able to handle conflict by holding clients accountable to their obligations.
Technical Proficiency:
- Familiarity with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, etc.) and other cloud-based tools.
Compensation and Benefits:
The salary range for people entering this role is up to $75,000/year, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications. This role is also eligible for a discretionary bonus based on individual and organizational performance and goal attainment.
