About the Role -
Critical Engineering Technician conducts extensive hand-on operations and maintenance work in a critical facility environment as well as mentoring junior technicians. Work includes installation, repair, and maintenance of critical and non-critical electrical, mechanical, plumbing/piping equipment, machinery and controls.
Responsibilities -
- Read blueprints, schematics, and effectively resolve equipment issues.
- Participates in all work efforts (including 3rd party contractors) for the safe and compliant operation
- Maintenance (corrective and preventive), and modification of critical equipment within the Data Center
- Disables and enables fire alarm control panels and systems.
- Hands on repair of HVAC and electrical equipment.
- Create and execute work orders, through the CMMS
- Lead critical maintenance evolutions with vendors and junior technicians ensuring safety and correct strict adherence to company policy and procedure.
- Ensure all preventive maintenance, and corrective maintenance records are reviewed and stored properly.
- Available to assist on 24/7 onsite shifts in the event of unplanned emergencies.
- Respond to equipment issues and escalate to the Critical Facilities Manager.
- Understand power and cooling efficiency and understand how PUE is used to determine efficient use of power throughout the facility.
- Experience writing MOPs for corrective and preventative maintenance in a critical environment.
Qualifications -
- Strong knowledge of safety requirements within the work environment (OSHA, NEC), UPS Systems and design, HVAC systems and their operations.
- Knowledge of escalation procedures in a critical environment, and the ability to effectively communicate critical issues.
- Strong understanding of the power and cooling requirements for critical IT loads, and the ability to effectively determine the requirements.
- Knowledge of blueprints, and schematics.
- Ability to oversee engineering and vendor work.
- Proficient writing skills, with the ability to create detailed MOP’s, EOP’s, and SOP’s.
- Knowledge of Security procedures in a critical environment.
- Perform hands on repairs to basic HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
- Basic knowledge in network protocols
- Ability to lift 50lbs overhead
Salary : $40 - $42
