We are currently in the market for a Quality Inspector 2 with the following experience below. Candidates must have knowledge and experience working in a machine shop environment and ability to read and understand GD&T. We currently have 3 openings, one day shift stating at 6am / 7am, one swing shift starting at 11am / 12pm and a evening shift starting at 2 : 30pm.
Summary :
We are seeking an experienced Quality Inspector 2 to join our team in a dynamic machine shop environment. The Quality Inspector 2 will be responsible for ensuring that all manufactured parts meet stringent customer specifications and internal quality standards. This role involves thorough inspection, documentation, and reporting to maintain our commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities :
Inspection : Conduct detailed inspections of machined parts using various measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine), and other precision instruments.
Documentation : Accurately record inspection results, maintain logs, and prepare reports on quality metrics. Document non-conformances and initiate corrective actions where necessary.
Quality Control : Monitor production processes to ensure parts are manufactured according to specifications. Recommend improvements in manufacturing processes to prevent defects.
Calibration : Ensure all inspection equipment is calibrated and maintained according to industry standards.
Training : Assist in training new inspectors or less experienced staff on inspection techniques, company standards, and quality control procedures.
Compliance : Ensure adherence to quality standards like ISO, AS9100, or other relevant industry certifications. Participate in internal and external audits.
Problem Solving : Work with production teams to troubleshoot issues related to part quality, identify root causes, and implement solutions.
ASQ’s CQI Certified Quality Inspector is a plus.
Complete knowledge of application and interpretation of ASM Y14.5M, GD&T.
Education :
High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in a related field preferred.
Experience : Minimum of 3 years in a quality control role within a machine shop or similar manufacturing environment.
Technical Skills : Proficient with inspection tools including CMM, optical comparators, and surface plate techniques. Familiarity with CAD / CAM software is a plus.
Certifications : GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) certification or training desirable.
Knowledge : Understanding of manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, milling, turning, etc.
Interpersonal Skills : Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Attention to Detail : Must have an eye for detail and accuracy in all measurements and reporting.
Work Environment : Work is performed in a machine shop setting which can be noisy, require protective equipment, and involve exposure to various machining fluids and materials.
