Viable candidates must currently live within commuting distance to Boston, MA. This is a hybrid position (typically 2 days onsite / 3 days remote), which requires working partially in downtown Boston, MA. This position is not eligible for employer visa sponsorship.
Position Summary:
The Systems Administrator is responsible for assisting the IT Infrastructure Director in all Information Technology infrastructure operations. This hands-on position designs, installs, administers, and optimizes the company servers, network, desktops, and related components to achieve high performance of the various business applications. This includes ensuring the availability of client/server applications, configuring all new implementations, and developing processes and procedures for ongoing management of the network/server and cloud environments. Along with the IT Infrastructure Director, this position is responsible for assisting in the planning, coordinating, and implementing information security systems. This includes adhering to the established policies, procedures, standards, and mechanisms to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information and to assist in preventing, detecting, containing, and correcting information security breaches by aligning with the WCRIBMA established information security standards.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Manage and ensure optimal operation and effectiveness of the enterprise network hardware, storage infrastructure and corporate server infrastructure (mixture of virtual and physical servers), desktop environment, including all related hardware, operating systems, and software.
- Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 customer service support for all network, server, desktop, and cloud computing issues.
- Plan, acquire, and coordinate installation of in-house and remote hardware and software across the organization’s network. Research, recommend and implement new technologies and infrastructure design as warranted.
- Assist with vulnerability management by detecting, prioritizing, and addressing all findings.
- Apply patches, updates and upgrades to Operating Systems and software as required.
- Monitor backups and participate in IT Disaster Recovery testing activities.
- Coordinate and collaborate with business units, application developers and the database administrator to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of corporate servers to meet business demands.
- Exercise network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, computer science, or information technology preferred.
- Microsoft certifications preferred.
- 5-7 years of experience with Microsoft desktop and server operating systems.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Active Directory/Entra.
- Strong understanding of networking and systems security principles.
- Mix of understanding and experience with security technologies including NGFW, SIEM, Email Filtering, and Endpoint Protection is desired.
- Knowledge of current networking concepts and protocols, routing and switching.
- Experience implementing and supporting various network platforms such as Nimble storage, Fortinet firewalls and VMware.
- Experience with co-location server environments.
- Experience with Cloud technologies such as Microsoft Azure/365 and various SaaS platforms.
- Strong vendor and business relationship skills.
- Strong written & oral communication skills and customer service skills.
