Job Summary :
Balanced Unitized Systems is seeking a highly skilled Curtain Wall Designer with extensive experience in the glazing trade. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, drafting, and overseeing quality control processes for curtain wall systems and related glazing projects. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the structural integrity, aesthetics, and functionality of building fenestrations, including windows, doors, and skylights.
Key Responsibilities :
Develop detailed shop drawings and fabrication drawings for curtain wall systems, glazing assemblies, and other exterior cladding components using AutoCAD and BIM software.
Design and engineer custom glazing systems, ensuring adherence to architectural specifications and building codes.
Conduct quality control inspections during the fabrication and installation phases to maintain compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project teams to interpret technical specifications and ensure seamless project execution.
Supervise and direct drafting personnel, providing guidance and feedback to ensure accuracy and efficiency in design outputs.
Evaluate and troubleshoot design and fabrication challenges, proposing innovative solutions.
Prepare technical documentation, including specifications, reports, and project submittals.
Qualifications :
Bachelors degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of direct experience in the glazing trade, including curtain wall design, drawing, and quality control.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, BIM, and other relevant drafting / design software.
Strong understanding of fenestration fabrication, including structural and thermal performance considerations.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality work under tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience with advanced quality control methodologies.
Familiarity with international glazing and curtain wall standards.
Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and project management tools.
