The Plant Manager will be responsible for production planning, inventory control, team leadership, and ensuring efficient and profitable operations aligned with company goals. This leader plays a vital role in driving safety, quality, performance, productivity, and continuous improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all aspects of production to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective plant operations.
- Develop and execute production plans, including labor and capacity planning, scheduling, and material requirement planning.
- Oversee inventory control and maintain plant and yard cleanliness and organization.
- Manage delivery schedules and customer order follow-ups to ensure on-time delivery.
- Supervise and mentor team members, delegating responsibility with accountability and performance reviews.
- Ensure compliance with all legal, environmental, health, and safety (EH&S) regulations.
- Manage the department budget to optimize profitability while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Promote a positive, respectful, and engaging work environment across all levels.
- Develop and implement performance metrics and provide timely feedback across departments.
- Collaborate with HR on recruitment, training, coaching, performance management, and development plans.
- Provide monthly operational reports and updates to leadership.
- Plan and implement strategic initiatives, including process improvements and automation projects.
- Ensure all equipment is properly maintained, safe to use, and operated according to policy and training guidelines.
Requirements:
- 4 years plant management experience, preferably in manufacturing wood products.
- Proven leadership ability, with experience managing teams in a production environment.
- Strong knowledge of production planning, inventory control, and operational workflows.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to lead continuous improvement projects and support cross-functional initiatives.
- Knowledge of EH&S compliance and best practices.
- Comfortable with hands-on management and working in a fast-paced production environment.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
