What are the responsibilities and job description for the Employer and Career Services Specialist (FSET Program) position at Workforce Resource, Inc?
Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with local employers and businesses, recruitment, maintaining a knowledge of the labor market. Providing FSET participants with work readiness training, job leads, job retention support, and assistance to participants in a variety of public and private sector employment situations. Responsible for establishing and monitoring participant workfare and work experience activities and assisting the Third-party Programs (TPP) facilitator with recruitment, and in ensuring FSET participants are prepared to successfully complete training.
Key Roles:
A. Build and maintain relationships with local employers and businesses; identify and address business workforce needs and attend county business service meetings.
B. Participate in employer-related events including local hiring events and job fairs. Visit community partners and other community resources for FSET recruitment, utilizing the WRI application.
C. Enroll FoodShare eligible individuals on-site and act as a back-up to complete FSET orientation/ enrollments when Career Planners are not available; this will not include case management.
D. Maintain a knowledge of the labor market.
E. Report information on employment/training opportunities and relevant information/events to all FSET staff in Team meetings
F. Meet one-on-one with FSET participants (focusing on ABAWD participants) in need of additional direct support (referred to by Career Planners in the WRI referral database as direct referrals) by providing the following services to best prepare FSET participants for obtaining and maintaining employment:
1. Provide direct employment assistance (including work readiness and job search training)
2. Provide local job leads, and information on upcoming events
3. Complete assessments of participant interests and capabilities
4. Work with FSET participants on job retention by reviewing workplace demands, employer expectations, strategies to help maintain employment, job-specific problem solving, and follow up with employers to ensure expectations and demands are met for sustainable employment.
G. Identify and establish appropriate work and training sites, providing direct supervision of ABAWDs work/training activities as necessary.
1. Conduct community outreach to identify appropriate work and training activities.
2. Conduct site visits to determine appropriateness for individual or group needs.
3. Develop and review work/training site agreements to facilitate program activities.
4. Provide orientation to work/training site supervisors.
5. Meet with participants at their FSET work or training sites.
6. Report newly established worksites to the FSET Program Manager for quarterly reports.
H. Meet with FSET Career Planners to provide updates on participant progress

J. Assist the Third-Party Programs (TPP) Facilitator with recruitment and with the following services to help ensure participant success:
1. Ensure FSET participants are ready to begin academies and follow up with Career Planners on participant readiness. This includes verifying participants have transportation to academies, and materials required for the academy (examples: scrubs, shoes, or watch if required for healthcare academies), etc.
2. May attend academies, as directed by the TPP Facilitator, to assist FSET participants as needed
QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, problem solving, communication, and computer skills. Positive work ethic, ability to maintain accurate records, possess a strong sense of respect and confidentiality, knowledge and experience in vocational assessment and career planning. Job requires a valid driver’s license and access to dependable transportation. Ability to assess vocational skills and needs of defined service populations; knowledge of community resources; knowledge of business needs and the economy in the geographic area assigned. Group facilitation and organizational skills; ability to keep accurate records.
Bachelor's Degree in Human Services Field or 2-4 years of related experience.
Experience working with employers desired.
Regular travel in FSET #7 region required.
This position is funded through September 30, 2025. Future funding will be requested through upcoming grant application.
