What are the responsibilities and job description for the Independent Living Crisis Navigator position at Workforce Resource, Inc?
The Independent Living (IL) Crisis Navigator will work in partnership with all youth programming to assist with crisis intervention and assist in growing Independent Living and Anti-Human Trafficking (AHT) programming. The IL Navigator will work with youth aging out of the foster care system and working warm line for youth enrolled in programming that are in crisis. The IL Navigator with work with the UWRF social work program and the MCW Wisconsin Partnership Program to do research on case management techniques. The IL Navigator will assist in creation of a referral and resource directory for the 27 county service area and answer calls. They will provide direct case management to St. Croix, Pepin, Pierce, and Dunn Counties that have aged out of the foster care system that are ages 17.5 to 23.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Creation of a regional network for youth
o Developing a system of expertise and partnership with local service agencies, educational institutions, county and tribal welfare agencies, and local employers to address needs related to employment, education, housing, health, positive social bonds, finances and financial literacy, and other areas of self-sufficiency.
o Convening the network on a regular basis to encourage collaboration
- Case Management
o Direct case management to assist 17.5-23 year olds with goals of employment, education, housing, connections, and health relationships.
o Log all phone calls and create goals to help youth from time of crisis to space of normalcy.
o Collaborate with their primary case manager on resources that have been used and what can be accessed
o Give initial/immediate supports needed to get the issue resolved but then work on long term planning.
- Development of new programming and team collaboration with the university:
o Work with college staff from University of Wisconsin Systems (UWRF and MCW) for overall development of mental health and trauma response.
o Assist Program Manager and university staff with data collection
- Intern Recruitment and field supervisor.
o Recruit local interns from local colleges to meet program needs.
o Proctor internships and complete college paperwork as necessary
o Make sure interns are meeting educational goals and work with program supervisor to reach goals of the program.
QUALIFICATIONS: Skills in leadership, public speaking; knowledge of community resources; knowledge of regional businesss and the economy in the geographic area assigned; effective interpersonal and counseling skills; group facilitation and organizational skills; ability to keep accurate records; ability to travel.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Vocational Rehabilitation or related field from accredited four-year college or university or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Vocational Rehabilitation or related field from accredited four-year college or university with 2-3 years case management experience. Prefer experience working with youth ages 14 and up and experience working with youth that had mental health disorders.
