Job Summary: The Shipping Clerk is responsible for managing the shipping and receiving operations within a manufacturing environment. This role involves coordinating the movement of goods, ensuring accurate documentation, and maintaining efficient shipping processes to meet production and customer requirements.
Pay Rate: $16.00/hr
Shift: Monday- Friday 7:30 am-4:00 pm (or until all trucks are shipped)
Location: Chester, VA
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process shipments of finished goods, including packaging, labeling, and arranging transportation.
- Accurately complete shipping documents such as packing lists, bills of lading, and shipping labels. Ensure all documentation is compliant with company and regulatory standards.
- Verify and reconcile inventory levels, track shipments, and update inventory records to maintain accuracy.
- Inspect outgoing shipments for accuracy, quality, and condition. Report any discrepancies or damages to the appropriate departments.
- Communicate with suppliers, carriers, and internal departments to schedule pickups, track deliveries, and resolve shipping issues.
- Maintain organized records of shipments, receipts, and inventory transactions. Prepare reports as needed for management review.
- Adhere to safety protocols and company policies during all shipping and receiving activities. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Address and resolve any shipping-related inquiries or issues from customers or internal teams in a timely and professional manner.
- Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks as required for shipping and receiving tasks.
Skills/Abilities:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in shipping and receiving is a plus.
- Previous experience in a shipping or warehouse role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using shipping software and inventory management systems.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others.
- Basic mathematical skills for accurate inventory and shipping calculations.
