WELCOME TO WORKHOUSE ARTS
The Workhouse Arts Center is now accepting applications for Camp Staff 2025! Are you
passionate about inspiring creativity in children? Do you have experience in visual arts, theater,
or music & dance? Join our team as a Summer Camp Art Instructor!
We are seeking enthusiastic and skilled Art Instructors for our summer camp program,
which runs for nine 1-week sessions. The camp is designed for children aged 6-16 and focuses
on fostering creativity through visual arts, theater, and music & dance. This is a contract
position, perfect for educators, artists, or performers who love working with kids.
Our Spring, Summer and Day Camps are a perfect way for children to spark their
creativity and learn new skills. Our courses will cover Visual Art mediums such as painting,
drawing, mixed media, ceramics, and glass, Music & Dance track featuring vocals and
instruments and Theater programs featuring playwriting, set design, directing and performing.
Camp class hours are from 9 am – 4 pm for Summer camps and 9 am – 3:30pm for Spring Camps,
with extended care for each camp session.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
C amp Instructors
Workhouse Arts Camp Instructors must be enthusiastic and skilled art instructors genuinely
concerned for the development and welfare of the youth in their care. Camp Instructors design
and deliver 90-minute instructional units four times daily for age-appropriate arts education in a
summer camp setting. Instructors will work four sessions per day, in cohorts consisting of rising
grades 1-3, 4-6, 7-8, and 9-10.
Instructors will design learning modules for each age group that build skills over the course of
one week. Because some campers enroll for multiple weeks, we request two one-week modules
with enough differences in outcome or skill to keep campers engaged.
Hours are from 8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday-Friday, with a two-week minimum commitment.
Summer Camp is in session (1-week increments) from Monday, June 16 – Friday, August 15. We
strongly prefer a two to nine-week commitment to teaching all four cohorts five days per week
but will consider other formats. Our goal is a camp filled with talented instructors and engaged
campers.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging and age-appropriate lessons in visual arts, theater, or music &
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment where campers feel encouraged to express
- Adapt teaching methods to suit different age groups (6-16 years old).
- Organize and assist with end-of-week showcases or performances to highlight camper
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers during activities.
- Collaborate with other camp staff to create a cohesive and fun experience for all
participants.
Qualifications, Experience, and Education Requirements
- Degree in fine arts, theater, or arts education, plus experience creating instructional
- Access to reliable transportation and must be able to arrive on time or early.
- Must be able to pass criminal background check.
- Must be able to attend pre-camp training and at least one session of camp.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members in a team-oriented environment.
Compensation
- $45 per class (maximum $180 per day/$900 per week)
