POSITION SUMMARY
The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for implementation, management, maintenance, enhancement, and support of new and existing systems throughout the Culinary Institute of America (CIA). They will analyze current business processes and make recommendations for improvement, as well as coordinate with IT professionals, managers, and others to create or update software based on CIA needs. The Business Systems Analyst may train and provide technical support to employees on how to use the software effectively.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides functional and technical support and expertise for internal Student Services Customer Relation Management Software – Recruit. Provide support for Ellucian Colleague users and act as the liaison with third party vendors and Ellucian support services to address and resolve identified system matters.
- Provides functional and technical support and expertise for Enterprise Document Management System, Informer Reporting/Analytics tool and other systems, as required.
- Conducts research on functional application software products, best practices and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
- Collaborates with developers, analysts, and designers in conceptualizing and developing software program enhancements and new applications. Assist in the preparation and documentation of business requirements and specifications.
- Works closely with the College community and key stakeholders, conducting user interviews in order to determine functional needs, including but not limited to, Ellucian Colleague ERP modules and rule writing.
- Participates in writing narratives, flowcharts, diagrams, and system procedures.
- Works with users to ensure programs meet user needs and are comprehended. Prepares and assists with the preparation of systems documentation and user manuals.
- Participates in critical analysis of test results and delivers solutions to problem areas.
- Generates statistics, prepares and writes reports for management and/or team members.
- Works with third party software providers including Cloud service providers of business applications.
- Researches, recommends, schedules, and performs software improvements and upgrades as directed in support of CIA initiatives.
- Liaise with network administrators, systems analysts, and other team members to assist in resolving problems with software products or company software systems.
- Provides end user support, training and properly uses help desk software to enter and direct calls to appropriate team members, as well as follow-up. Installs software products for end users as required.
- Any and all other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required in the field of computer science, information services or related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of two to three (2-3) years of Business Systems Analyst experience as a Systems Analyst, Business Analyst or related position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Higher Education experience preferred.
- Experience with student services systems, preferably Ellucian Colleague and Hyland Document Management System.
- Database and operating systems experience with MS SQL Server.
- Experience with CRM, SharePoint, Active Directory and SSO.
- Web experience, and .NET programming preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Knowledge of MS SQL Server databases.
- Ability to create reports using various report writing tools such as Informer, MS-Access, and Colleague.
- Proficient knowledge of MS Office applications.
- Hands-on software troubleshooting experience.
- Ability to learn and understand new technologies.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills.
- Must display a high level of energy and self-motivation.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to be adaptable, dependable and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must be available to work nights and weekends as required due to business needs.
- Regular work requires a great deal of sitting and standing for extended periods.
- Regular work requires the use of a computer, sometimes in excess of eight (8) hours per day.
