Position Description:

Working Credit seeks a dynamic individual to serve as the Director of BBC (Director). As the first in the nation citywide credit building initiative, BBC approaches credit building as a foundational building block for economic security, mobility, and equity. BBC was launched in 2017 by a cross-sector collaboration of over forty community, business and institutional partners. This initiative envisions a Boston where all residents, regardless of race, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status, are empowered to reach their financial goals without systemic and institutional barriers to success. BBC is mobilizing a citywide movement to close the racial wealth gap by breaking down barriers, advancing safe and affordable credit building products, and empowering Boston residents to achieve a prime credit score and build wealth.

The Director will be responsible for the overall management of BBC, including: (1) strengthening and growing the coalition of BBC supporters and collaborators; (2) supporting the implementation of credit building services for key constituencies; (3) promoting the BBC brand; (4) identifying public policy initiatives to increase availability of credit building services/products and consumer protections for Boston residents; and (5) overseeing evaluation and research related to the initiative. The Director will report to Working Credit’s Chief Community Engagement Officer and collaborate closely with United Way’s Senior Director of Community Strategies, Community Impact.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Management, Development, and Oversight:

  • Guides the development and implementation of strategies in alignment with BBC’s vision and mission (see: https://www.bostonbuildscredit.org/mission-and-vision/) in collaboration with partners; lead processes to plan, decide, implement, assess and adapt.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with BBC Board and Committee members, community leaders, and other key initiative partners.
  • Ensure proper BBC governance by working in partnership with committee chairs to coordinate, convene and co-facilitate BBC committee meetings, overseeing the process for developing agendas, building consensus, and documenting decision-making.
  • Manage and support committee strategies and plans directly and/or through committee leads.
  • Lead the coordination of research and evaluation projects and studies related to BBC’s work and impact.
  • In collaboration with the United Way, support the development of the initiative’s sustainability plan and lead the collective effort to access resources that benefit the initiative.

Communication and Reporting Responsibilities:

  • Represent the organization in community forums and advocacy efforts, ensuring that the voices of community members are heard and incorporated into decision-making processes.
  • Conduct community engagement events with partners to strengthen BBC awareness in the area.
  • Prepare updates on project activities for partners, community members, United Way, funders, and other relevant stakeholders.

· In Collaboration with the United Way:

  • Support the management of the Boston Builds Credit website.
  • Oversee marketing and communication activities that promote the brand, services, policy work, advocacy, and other activities of BBC

Qualifications Required:

  • 3-5 years of experience in project management, community organizing, facilitation and/or convening roles.
  • Strong leadership and facilitation skills with a track record of fostering collaboration across diverse groups.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven experience in event planning, project management, and program design.
  • Passion for community engagement, economic and racial justice.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in credit building and financial empowerment-related work.
  • Ability to work independently in fast paced environment
  • Familiarity with database management and program evaluation.
  • Available to work evenings and weekends from time to time, when needed.

Preferred

  • Spanish language skills desired.

Compensation:Starting salary range: $67,500 - $75,000. Working Credit offers competitive benefits, including 100% health insurance for employees and 75% for vision, dental, a 403(b) with a 4% match, short- and long-term disability, and life insurance.
