Build the Future Santa Clara County is seeking a social media specialist who has experience creating engaging social media content for organizations or small brands, managing social media calendars, and growing a strong social media audience. The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communications skills, video and photography experience and an interest in social media content strategy and storytelling. They will be a self-starter, able to generate ideas, work with a team of diverse stakeholders, and implement a work plan geared towards building engagement and increasing audience. Build the Future is a Santa Clara County-wide movement to advocate for affordable childcare and raising the wages of our childcare providers. In Santa Clara County, the average family pays over $26,000 a year for infant care. This reflects a nationwide crisis in affordability and access to quality childcare. In our county, this high cost translates to an estimated $3 billion annual loss in earnings and productivity. Build the Future working to change this by raising awareness about the urgent need for childcare and growing county support for universal childcare for everyone. We believe access to affordable childcare is essential for our future generations, and empowers parents to work and provide for their families, driving economic growth and creating a stronger, more equitable community. Key ResponsibilitiesCreate and post original content, including photographs, explainers and reels, on Build the Future’s social media channels (Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn)Curate and share social media content that is compelling and relevant to our base and / or uplifts movement allies and keeps Build the Future engaged in conversations around relevant issueCollaborate with the Working Partnerships USA and Build the Future teams to ensure content meets our communication objectivesTailor platform-specific strategies for Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn, based on social media metrics and wider industry trends, including local influencer partnershipsCreate and optimize a content calendar to ensure regular daily posting scheduleQualificationsGraphic design, photography and video production, especially for social media (reels) (Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud is a plus)Excellent written and verbal communication and storytelling skillsUnderstanding of social media platforms, trends, and unique content requirementsAbility to work independently, creatively, and break down complex issues, and write quickly and compellingly for a variety of audiencesStrong work ethic, project management skills, and personal commitment to excellenceCommitment to social, racial, economic, environmental, and gender justice.Portfolio or examples of previous social media content a plusDuration : 6-month contract positionHours : 5 hours per weekCompensation : $50-60 per hourPhysical and Technical RequirementsAccess to a computer and reliable internet connectionAbility to work flexibly and independentlyComfortable with digital content creation toolsBasic understanding of social media analyticsHow to ApplyApply using the form below and
