Position : Accounting Assistant
Location : Belle Chasse, LA
The Accounting Assistant provides support to the accounting department by assisting with various financial tasks, including data entry, invoicing, account reconciliation, and financial reporting. The role ensures the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions and helps maintain organized financial records.
Responsibilities :
1. Accounts Payable and Receivable :
- Process invoices, purchase orders, and vendor payments.
- Ensure all accounts payable are paid in a timely manner.
- Monitor and follow up on overdue accounts receivable.
- Reconcile discrepancies in accounts, as needed.
2. Bookkeeping and Data Entry :
Maintain accurate financial records by entering transactions into the accounting system.Record receipts, payments, and other financial transactions.Ensure all transactions are documented and filed in organized manner.3. Account Reconciliation :
Reconcile bank statements and credit card statements with company records.Assist in preparation of monthly reconciliations for various accounts.Investigate discrepancies and assist in resolving issues in a timely manner.4. Financial Reporting Support :
Assist in the preparation of financial reports.5. Payroll Assistance :
Assist with the preparation and processing of payroll.Maintain accurate records of employee hours and compensation.6. Tax Preparation Assistance :
Support the accounting team with the preparation of tax returns.Assist in gathering required documents and maintaining tax-related records.7. Administrative & HR Support :
Provide general administrative support to the accounting department.Answer phone calls, emails, and queries related to accounts.Assist with filing and organizing accounting documents.Maintain confidentiality of financial records and sensitive information.8. Collaboration :
Work closely with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial processing.Communicate with vendors, customers, and other departments to resolve accounting issues.
