The Role
The Installer is responsible for the daily activities related to the installation and reconfiguration of office furniture products and accessories within clients’ facilities delivering a high degree of workmanship and customer satisfaction. Duties may include delivery, assembly, and installation. The Installer will take direction from Installation Supervisor at customer site, however, reports directly to the Installation Manager.
What You Will Do
~ Essential Job Responsibilities
- With job‐site direction from Installation Supervisor, efficiently assembles, installs, and inspects for proper operability office furniture products and accessories per the installation specifications, blueprints, and manufacturer’s guidelines to meet customer’s satisfaction.
- Assists with the un‐cartoning, loading and unloading of trucks, staging, panel assembly, component assembly, lock installation and reporting all damages and product shortages to the Installation Supervisor.
- Attends pre‐installation meetings as required.
- Performs all customer site clean‐up and detailing, removing all cartons and packaging.
- Brings potential problems promptly to the attention of the Installation Supervisor to address.
- Completes in an accurate and timely manner all paperwork and/or data entry into electronic tablet, including but not limited to time sheets/time entry and all other related processes and forms relating to the project.
- Follows all safety procedures in the performance of job duties; observes and enforces local, state, and federal OSHA and D.O.T. safety rules and regulations; follows safe work behaviors and required PPE, and promptly corrects conditions and unsafe behaviors which may lead to accidents
- Unloads and properly disposes of any waste materials in the receptacle or dump; inspects the company’s trucks, completes the inspection form and turns in to the appropriate person; keeps trucks clean.
- Contributing to a team by accomplishing related results or projects as needed or assigned.
The Qualifications and/or Experience
The preferred candidate will hold a high school diploma or minimum of 1-2 years working in a similar position preferably within the office furniture industry, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with product moving equipment (i.e. dollies, panel carts, pallet jack) as well as basic hand and power tools (compound drill, circular saw, router, etc.)
- Experience using a computer/laptop or electronic tablet such as an iPad, as well as a smartphone.
- Communicating effectively using the English language in both written and verbal manner
- Must have a current/valid driver’s license with a good driving record and ability to operate a company truck up to 26,000 pounds or your own personal vehicle to drive to a customer site.
- Product knowledge, installation processes and procedures for correct application, assembly, and installation of most major office furniture lines that the dealership represents.
- Reading construction and installation plans, blueprints and elevations, architectural and furniture symbols, interpreting product specifications and descriptions, basic finishes, colors, and fabrics.
- Using various types of hand and power tools as well as field measuring a worksite in preparation for installation. (Note: An Installer will be required to purchase their own tools if necessary. A Tools Purchase Program is Available.)
- Understanding and working with basic electricity and systems furniture electrical component installation.
- Understanding the importance of accountability, doing quality work, adhering to the standards to prevent errors, and working effectively with high volume workload to reach the desired results.
- Demonstrating dependability, flexibility, and adaptability by fulfilling commitments consistently and reliably and being able to change course swiftly and purposefully when the needs of the business change. Must be available to work irregular hours, and extended shifts.

- Working on a personal computer/laptop or electronic tablet such as an iPad. Able to use electronic e‐mail, internet, and electronic forms.
- Physical ability to lift, push or pull equipment and/or product weighing between 70 to 100 pounds as well climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push/pull, or balance weight for extended periods of time.
- Possess the manual dexterity to operate hand and power tools frequently.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an acceptable background check, D.O.T. physical, lift test and drug screen as needed for work sites that require it.
Work Environment and Physical/Mental Demands
The position requires working mainly outdoors. Must be willing and prepared to work in all kinds of weather when loading or unloading product. The environment may be dusty and dirty. Hazards include working around forklifts and occasional exposure to caustic or toxic chemicals. Must be able to travel to various customer work sites and to company’s remote sites. Physical demands – Work is rated as heavy. Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, bend, stoop, twist, and to operate a forklift. On feet the majority of the day, walking, etc. Must have good upper body strength to lift continuously 50 lbs. Visual acuity is a combination of near, far, depth perception, color vision and general field of visions. Fine motor skills to handle use of small hand tools. Mental abilities – Specialized knowledge in warehousing and construction. Ability to problem-solve and speak English to communicate with the customers and employees. Basic math skills to do measurements and some calculation of numbers. Ability to write simple communications.
