Warehouse Manager

Job Purpose:

Provide leadership and direction to the warehouse department in areas of responsibilities including day-to-day warehousing, distribution, inventory control, production and quality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES And RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Direct and manage all warehouse operations, optimizing warehouse capacity, inventory and floor utilization to increase department productivity and operating within budget controls.
• Coordinate daily shipping priorities with support from the plants, customer service and logistics service provider.
• Manage the production assembly area to meet customer needs.
• Drive performance metrics for warehouse operations, monitor KPIs, and initiate process improvements to streamline operations and reduce costs.
• Implement lean principles to streamline processes, reduce waste, and drive best practices for efficiency and scalability.
• Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to optimize efficiency and ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
• Demonstrate and enforce a culture of safety in the operation.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the warehouse.
• Conduct regular physical inventories and reconcile discrepancies promptly.
• Establish work schedules, ensure that the schedules are correctly implemented and that tasks are assigned effectively, and completed properly by delegating responsibilities and holding individuals accountable for performance expectations.
• Perform other duties as assigned and needed.
  
  

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities:

• Participate in the talent acquisition process, collaborate with Human Resources to provide unbiased feedback focused on candidate qualifications, and consistently consider alignment with company mission, vision, and values.
• Provide an onboarding experience that allows employees to learn, develop, and acclimate to the company culture.
• Utilize results against goals to identify continuous improvement opportunities and communicate with those to all departments.
• Plan, establish, and communicate work schedules, assignments, and expectations to employees.
• Provide guidance through coaching, counseling, motivating , and disciplining to ensure accountability.
• Listen to and address employees’ concerns to resolve issues and lead a culture of respect, teamwork, and collaboration.
• Continuously evaluate and provide feedback to employees. Collaborate with Human Resources to write and conduct employee performance reviews.
• Monitor and process employee attendance records/timecards and PTO in a timely manner.
• Provide leadership to all department activities focused on maximizing teamwork and productivity, minimizing costs, and maintaining a high level of quality standards.
• Work collaboratively with team and other departments to troubleshoot and implement actions that yield positive results.
• Serves as a role model for work ethic, behavioral conduct, professional image, safety training and behavior, and quality standards in full compliance with all work rules and policies.
• Define, develop, implement, and enforce training programs and principles that support the company’s mission, vision, and values.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent, plus continued education in supply chain management.

Experience And/or Training:

• 3 years of experience in a warehouse environment.
• 1 year of leadership experience.
• 1 year Forklift Driving experience.
  
  

Licenses/Certificates: None

Technology/Equipment: Proficiency working in Microsoft Office Suite, ERP and warehouse management systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree or MBA

Experience And/or Training:

• 7 years of warehouse management experience in driving warehouse cost improvements, safety, inventory control and driving warehouse efficiency.
• 5 years of leadership experience in mentoring and managing a team
• 5 years of proven track record in driving a safety culture.
• Strong aptitude to think critically, solve problems, and drive improvements in a professional and respectful manner.
• Experience in logistics or supply chain management for a manufacturing organization.

Technology/Equipment: Proficiency working in Microsoft Office Suite, ERP, warehouse management and transportation management systems.

Physical And Mental Demands:

Sitting for long periods of time, 6-8 hours per day. Walking, able to climb stairs, speaking, hearing, and seeing. Listen and observe the environment for hazard prevention. Use hands for tools and typing. Semi-frequently lift up to 15 lbs. Some tasks may require employee to bend, stoop, twist, and turn.

Working Environment:

Indoor working environment. Office is temperature-controlled all year round. Production may be hot in the summer and temperature-controlled in the Winter. Moving machinery, i.e. forklifts, moveable carts, etc.; uneven ground where cart tracks are identified. Air quality may be dusty and potentially require additional PPE in certain areas. Sound level below 85 decibels except in areas specified as requiring hearing protection.
