Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to provide diagnostic evaluations and treatment to our patients. The successful candidate will help individuals reach their maximum performance level and utilize skills learned to function within their capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Assess patient needs and develop individualized therapy plans to promote functional independence.
- Provide consultation on environmental design, adaptive equipment, and patient positioning to prevent contractures and splinting.
- Instruct patients in adapted techniques and the use of adaptive equipment for daily living skills.
- Train patients in the use of upper-extremity prosthetic devices to resume previous daily routines.
- Administer therapy for neurological integration, sensor-motor integration treatment techniques, and visual perceptual-motor remediation programs.
- Design and provide individualized therapy for adult learning-disabled patients.
- Design and/or fabricate slings and adaptive equipment to meet patient needs.
- Provide prevention therapy to maintain functional skills, instructing patients in energy conservation, joint protection, safety techniques, and transferring methods.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy.
- Current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Ability to use tools used to make adaptive equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to read, write, and speak English sufficient to fulfill job requirements.
- Able to make independent decisions, solve practical problems, and work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.
Working Environment:
The Occupational Therapist will work in a dynamic and supportive environment, adhering to community policies and procedures for workplace safety, infection control, emergency response, and resident rights and confidentiality (HIPPA). They must also demonstrate knowledge of the Employee Handbook and comply with its policies.
