ITS Technology Innovation Office
The ITS Technology Innovation Office fosters collaboration, knowledge sharing, and innovation through emerging technologies, such as AI, Blockchain, IoT, Machine Learning, Quantum Computing, Spatial Computing, Agentic AI. It partners with global stakeholders to explore transformative capabilities, driving WBG’s mission to harness the Digital Age. The TI Office experiments with technologies across diverse domains like land administration, agriculture, supply chain, financial markets, and health.
Role Overview
This position is designed for a dynamic technology expert who will play a critical role in driving innovation within the World Bank Group. The ideal candidate will bridge technologies and business needs, ensuring the seamless integration of performant solutions into operations. By fostering collaboration, leading technical explorations, and applying design thinking and agile principles, the role ensures impactful transformation and innovation aligned with the institution's mission.
Responsibilities
General Duties
· Provide expertise on disruptive technologies, including AI, Blockchain, IoT, Robotics,
Quantum Computing, Spatial Computing, Agentic AI, and Software Engineering.
· Collaborate with WBG teams to identify and implement innovative solutions.
· Lead technical explorations and proof-of-concepts for emerging technologies.
· Develop strategic roadmaps and advise on technology adoption.
· Promote the integration of innovative technologies into WBG operations and architecture.
Specific Duties
- Engage with the WBG tech community to drive innovation initiatives.
- Partner with ITS/WBG business lines to design technology strategies and solutions.
- Explore growth potential in emerging technology domains.
- Contribute to operational improvements through technology applications.
- Develop knowledge-sharing initiatives to support the adoption of innovative technologies.
- Collaborate on cross-functional projects to accelerate the use of disruptive technologies.
Selection Criteria
Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related fields with 5 years of relevant experience (or Bachelor’s degree with 7 years).
- Proven expertise in Software Engineering, Cloud, Blockchain, AI / ML, IoT, Spatial Computing, Quantum Computing, Agentic AI, or any other emerging technologies.
Skills and Competencies
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in one of the following: Python, Solidity, Go, Java or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Knowledge of platforms like Ethereum and Hyperledger Fabric.
- Experience in cloud solutions, microservices, and container-based architectures.
- Analytical and Strategic Thinking:
- Ability to evaluate technology trends and develop innovative solutions.
- Expertise in system engineering, high-performance computing, and software development practices.
- Leadership and Collaboration:
- Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and mentorship skills.
- Ability to collaborate across teams and levels.
- Experience with Agile methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe.
