World Education (JSI/WE) is seeking a full-time Technical Officer to join the Boston-based team, supporting programs primarily throughout Africa. The Technical Officer will provide overall backstopping support to WE Technical Advisors and support WE BD efforts from opportunity tracking, scoping efforts, opportunity positioning, technical inputs, coordination, and other support as needed by technical team members. The Technical Officer will report to a WE Director within JSI/WE’s International Division.
Responsibilities

Coordinate schedules, prepare meeting materials, document discussions, and track action items to support the Technical Advisor and country project teams.

Serve as a liaison between U.S.-based and country-based teams, managing communication, tracking technical support requests, and addressing inquiries within designated technical and project areas.

Monitor program activities and contribute to periodic reporting efforts to support technical inputs in line with donor requirements.

Participate in training opportunities, directly support Technical Advisors, and enhance technical and organizational skills to contribute effectively to team and project objectives.

Stay informed about trends and best practices in assigned technical areas to ensure relevance and innovation in programming.

Provide technical backstopping to advisors and project staff, ensuring high-quality programming and timely deliverables.
- Draft scopes of work, coordinate technical support, and manage consultants to effectively support Technical Advisors and project needs.

Under guidance from Technical Advisors, research donor priorities, funding opportunities, and regulations and assist with drafting and formatting proposals, reports, and templates.

Organize and support development of proposal inputs, ensure compliance with submission requirements, and prepare supporting documents for relevant aspects of supported proposal team roles.

Help track funding opportunities, gather information, and identify potential partners for business development efforts.
- Support proposal development tasks, including coordination, basic writing, budgeting assistance, and consultant management as needed.
Communications/Thought Leadership
- Support technical advisors and liaise with the communications team to produce blog posts, webinars, technical briefs, and other products to promote JSI/WE technical and program implementation expertise.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, International Development, or a related field is required; a Master’s degree in Education or a related discipline is strongly preferred.

Minimum of 2 years of experience supporting program implementation in donor-funded environments, preferably USAID-funded projects, with a focus on Africa.

Fluency in English (both written and spoken) is required; proficiency in French, Portuguese, or Arabic is an advantage.

Position is based in Boston, with a willingness and ability to travel to project locations in Africa as needed.
