About This Role:
World Distribution Services, a World Group company, is currently looking for a motivated and detail-oriented person to join our family as an Equipment Operator for our growing warehouse in Savannah, Georgia!
The Equipment Operator safely and efficiently operates all forms of operations machinery including but not limited to: forklifts, reach trucks, and pallet jacks. Does this sound like you or fit your experience? Get in touch with us by applying here.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operates equipment in a safe and efficient manner
- Unloads, palletizes, picks, and loads loose cartons
- Provides daily preventative maintenance checks of equipment as required
- Escalates equipment mechanical issues to Lead Equipment Operator
- Unloads/Loads freight in a safe and effective manner
- Accurately verifies freight for quality and quantity
- Performs cycle counting as required
- Communicates with others appropriately
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Professional Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Previous experience operating forklifts and reach-lifts
- Warehouse experience preferred
- Experience with warehouse management systems helpful
- Experience with warehouse RF equipment preferred
- Knowledge of safety regulations

- The person in this position frequently communicates with external contacts and other employees. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Must be able to safely move about the warehouse and operate warehouse equipment (both motorized and manual) in a safe manner.
- Must be able to utilize mobile handheld devices to scan and track inventory
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position, occasionally ascend/descend, position self to manually handle/sort/load/unload freight & products, and climb in/out of equipment
- Ability to frequently open/close dock, trailer, & container doors
- Ability to frequently wrap product below and above head level
- Ability to frequently secure products and freight inside of containers
- Frequently required to manually handle product/freight and other objects of various shapes and sizes up to 50lbs without equipment assistance
Working Conditions:
Warehouse environment. Indoor/outdoor; exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by the weather. Sufficient noise, either constant or intermittent. Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
