Job Summary:
The Inventory Manager will be responsible for ensuring the efficient management and organization of our vast product inventory. This role requires a hands-on approach in tracking and organizing products, developing inventory control systems, performing regular inventory checks, and optimizing stock levels across multiple locations. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing a wide range of products without SKUs, inventory counts, or formalized cycles, and will play a crucial role in the overall operational success of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inventory Organization: Develop and implement a structured inventory system to categorize and track products, and detailed counts.
- Inventory Audits: Conduct regular manual inventory audits to ensure stock accuracy and prevent stockouts or overstock situations.
- Stock Level Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels, ensuring the availability of products without excess or shortfall. Coordinate with suppliers to replenish stock as needed.
- Order Management: Oversee and track orders from suppliers and ensure timely deliveries. Maintain communication with purchasing and logistics teams to avoid delays.
- Record Keeping: Maintain up-to-date, accurate records of inventory counts, product movements, and transactions. Implement a simple yet effective way of tracking products without traditional SKUs or cycles.
- Product Categorization: Develop and manage an inventory system that works well with our product variety, implementing new ways to label and track items.
- Reporting: Prepare regular reports on inventory status, product levels, and any discrepancies, presenting findings to management for informed decision-making.
- Loss Prevention: Identify potential risks of loss or damage to inventory, implementing proactive measures to mitigate these issues.
- Improvement Initiatives: Work continuously to improve the efficiency of inventory practices, including streamlining processes and reducing errors.
- Vendor Coordination: Work closely with warehouse staff to streamline inventory processes and ensure optimal storage and handling of products.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in inventory management, supply chain, or logistics.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work with products that are not standardized with SKUs or formal counts.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for identifying inefficiencies or issues in inventory practices.
- Good communication skills, able to work cross-functionally with other departments such as purchasing, sales, and logistics.
- Experience with vendor management or inventory control systems (though systems don’t need to be SKU-based).
- Familiarity with inventory management practices in industries with a wide range of products (e.g., vape products, accessories).
- Ability to implement processes from scratch and improve existing workflows.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in managing inventory for a consumer goods company, particularly in the vape, tobacco, or related industries.
- Knowledge of inventory tracking software and systems.
- Experience with cyclical inventory processes, even if they aren't formalized.
