Impact Data Analytics Intern

VisionFund (VF), the microfinance arm of World Vision, provides credit, insurance, and savings to underserved communities worldwide. We invest in our clients' agency and God-given potential and see God grow new small businesses, human potential, and children's futures through our work.

We're excited to invite you to join our VisionFund Strategy Team as an intern! You'll help us shape and share our strategies, client success stories, and the impact of our work. Your role will be crucial in expanding the reach of our microfinance efforts and enhancing our communications.

The Strategy Team comprises four sub-teams, that work closely to integrate the respective areas : Strategy Realization, Impact, Data, and Marketing & Communication (M&C). This role sits within the Impact team but works closely with the other strategy sub-teams. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to meaningful work and make a real difference!

What You'll Do :

  • Align Impact Data with Stakeholder Needs : Map VisionFund's impact data to stakeholder requirements and industry standards, pinpointing ways to enhance data collection and alignment.
  • Create Compelling Impact Stories : Analyze internal and external impact data to generate compelling evidence and narratives for strategic decisions and marketing efforts.
  • Build Key Performance Indicator Dashboards : Collaborate with Data and Impact teams to design dashboards that support VisionFund's management in making informed decisions.
  • Ensure Data Quality Through Validation : Perform rigorous checks to improve the accuracy and reliability of Micro Finance Institutions' survey data.
  • Stay Ahead with Sector Research : Investigate the latest trends, evidence, and best practices in financial inclusion from leading industry bodies, regulators, and investors.

  • Proficiency in Data Tools : Advanced skills in MS Office, especially Excel, PowerBI, or similar data analytics software will set you apart.

  • Online Research Skills : You have experience in conducting thorough and effective online research to support your work and insights.

  • Location : Remote within the USYou must be physically located in one of the following states where WVI is registered as an employer : Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia (Washington D.C.), Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Washington.
  • Appropriate Fields of Study / Majors : Economics, Business Administration, Data Analytics, International Development, or other Social Sciences majors
  • Internship Cohort Dates : 27 May - 22 August.
  • Stipend : this internship is unpaid, but all US-based interns receive a monthly stipend of $800.
  • Hours : Full-time and part-time (24-40 hours / week)

    • Eligibility

    All candidates must meet the following requirements :

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Eligible to work in the United States (US Citizen / resident or F1-student visa) and have a valid US Social Security Number.
  • Able to commit to at least 24 hours per week for the entire internship period : 27 May - 22 August.
  • Current student or recent graduate from a graduate programme (within 2 years).
  • Adhere to World Vision International's Christian Statement of Faith.
  • Willingness to use own electronic devices for internship purposes, and disposition to let WVI install endpoint security software in those devices.
