Job Overview:
As a Farm Technician, your main responsibility will be the cultivation of corals through propagation and coral fragmentation. Fragging involves cutting a small piece from a larger "mother" colony and relocating it to grow elsewhere. You will mount the coral frag onto a frag plug, coral mount, or rubble rock to safely handle and easily place it in a frag holder or farm tank for growth.

This role includes the duties listed above, along with other tasks that may arise throughout the day. Working with live animals requires flexibility, and your responsibilities may shift as needed. We expect all staff members to maintain an open mind and adapt to new tasks. Additionally, we ask you to respect your managers and peers, show up on time for your scheduled shifts, manage your own time sheets, clock out for breaks, and request PTO with a 2-week advance.

Responsibilities & Duties:
- Lift at least 60 lbs to waist level.
- Expect your hands to be wet for no less than 50% of your day.
- Follow instructions carefully to avoid compromising animals, time, and resources.
- Perform all opening and closing duties as outlined for the day.
- Conduct thorough walkthroughs to identify and address coral health concerns.
- Perform daily life support functions as specified by your manager.
- Record, report, and address any equipment or system functionality concerns during walkthroughs or as scheduled.
- Frag corals and manage their growth.
- Learn and understand various coral types, names, care requirements, and placement for better organization during fragging.
- Perform general service tasks, including algae control, detritus management, and pest/snail removal.
- Learn to use the water mixing and delivery system.
- Assist in the receiving processes for fish, inverts, or corals.
- Report inventory on inventory day.
- Accurately report your workday to your direct manager.
- Control and manage pests, including Acropora-eating flatworms, Zoanthid-eating nudibranchs, and Montipora-eating nudibranchs.
- Learn and follow processes specific to your role, including coral and fish quarantine, as well as medication for corals or fish.
