- Design, implement, and manage network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless systems.
- Plan and deploy network solutions to meet the organizations operational needs, ensuring scalability, reliability, and high performance.
- Configure, install, and integrate network devices and services such as DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and load balancing.
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform regular maintenance and upgrades to ensure system efficiency and reliability.
- Perform routine network audits, backups, and updates to ensure network integrity.
- Utilize network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios) to proactively detect and resolve network issues.
- Diagnose and resolve network-related problems, such as connectivity issues, slow speeds, or downtime.
- Respond promptly to network outages and downtime, working to restore services as quickly as possible.
- Provide technical support for users encountering network-related issues, including VPN connectivity, wireless access, or other network services.
- Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), intrusion prevention systems (IPS), and network access controls.
- Monitor network traffic for signs of security breaches or malicious activity and take appropriate actions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of network security threats and proactively recommend and implement solutions to mitigate risks.
- Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, topologies, security protocols, and troubleshooting logs.
- Prepare reports on network performance, downtime, and upgrades for management.
- Document all configurations, changes, and projects for knowledge sharing and future troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with other IT teams (e.g., system administrators, helpdesk, security teams) to ensure cohesive infrastructure operations.
- Work with vendors and service providers to ensure the timely delivery and support of network hardware and software.
- Provide technical support and training to other staff on network-related issues and best practices.
- Evaluate network hardware, software, and services for potential upgrades or replacements to improve performance and reduce costs.
- Recommend and implement network optimization techniques to improve bandwidth usage, reduce latency, and improve overall system performance.
- Configure and maintain remote access solutions, including VPN, SD-WAN, or other secure methods for remote workers.
- Manage and integrate cloud-based network services, such as cloud storage, cloud VPN, or SaaS applications, with on-premises systems.
- Ensure network infrastructure is compliant with industry regulations and standards, such as GDPR, HIPAA, or PCI DSS.
