Data Management Platform SME
Remote, Oakton, VA

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Data Management Platform (DMP) Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team. The DMP SME will play a critical role in our data management platforms' strategy, implementation, governance, and optimization to enable targeted marketing, customer insights, and data-driven decision-making. This role requires a combination of deep technical knowledge, data expertise, and business acumen to bridge the gap between marketing, technology, and data governance teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the architecture, implementation, and ongoing optimization of the Data Management Platform (DMP).
Collaborate with marketing, analytics, IT, and data governance teams to define and execute data-driven strategies.
Manage and optimize audience segmentation, data onboarding, identity resolution, and data activation across digital channels.
Ensure data quality, accuracy, privacy compliance (GDPR, CCPA, etc.), and adherence to data governance standards.
Analyze customer data and behavioral signals to deliver actionable insights and optimize audience targeting.
Integrate the DMP with CRM, CDP, DSPs, Ad Servers, Analytics, and other Martech platforms.
Develop and maintain documentation of DMP processes, data flows, taxonomy, and audience definitions.
Provide thought leadership and stay up to date with industry trends, DMP technologies, and privacy regulations.
Act as the subject matter expert and advisor for internal stakeholders on DMP best practices and capabilities.
Conduct training and knowledge-sharing sessions for internal teams to build platform literacy and best practice adoption.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Marketing, or a related field.
5 years of experience working with Data Management Platforms (e.g., Adobe Audience Manager, Salesforce Audience Studio, Lotame, Oracle BlueKai, etc.)
Deep understanding of digital marketing ecosystems, programmatic advertising, and customer data platforms (CDPs).
Hands-on experience in data onboarding, audience segmentation, and activation.
Familiarity with data privacy regulations and compliance requirements.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Proficient in SQL, data visualization tools, and working knowledge of web analytics platforms (Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics).
Ability to work independently and manage multiple stakeholders across technical and non-technical teams.
Preferred Skills
Experience integrating DMP with Demand Side Platforms (DSPs) and AdTech/MarTech ecosystems.
Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and big data technologies.
Exposure to customer identity resolution, data matching, and consent management solutions.
Certifications in relevant platforms (Adobe, Salesforce, etc.) are a plus.
